Welcome to Skyway Elementary School

Skyway Elementary is more than a school. It is a loving, caring, and learning laboratory for lucky children who reach for the stars by reading, believing, achieving, and succeeding at everything.

Skyway Elementary School serves 650 students from the surrounding neighborhood, who reside in single family and mobile homes. Our student body encompasses the many heritages, ethnicity's, and socioeconomic levels found throughout Miami-Dade County.

Skway Elementary School is part of the Miami Carol City Feeder Pattern and reports to the North Region Center Office. Skyway is funded by several federal and state grants, Title I, IDEA, Reading First, Ready Schools Miami, FCAT Enchancement, and Children’s Trust.

Skyway Elementary School is located on 7.87 acres in the northern part of Miami-Dade County at 4555 Northwest 206 Terrace. Our 31 year old building is wired to provide Internet and Network access to 100% of the classrooms. We currently house 150 computers in classrooms, the media center and eight in a lab setting. We also have a closed circuit television system. This past August our state of art full-service cafeteria/auditorium opened for all of our students and staff.

Skyway Elementary is a mandatory uniform school, which provides educational services through the use of the Sunshine State Standards and Competency Based Curriculum to students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through five in an open space classroom setting. Additionally, teachers use the Comprehensive Reading Plan and CRISS Strategies to enhance instruction. Grades 3,4, and 5 are departmentalized, meaning students change classes for Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.

Other programs offered include a pre-kindergarten half day speech and language class, Headstart and resource special education and gifted programs.
